FreeFTP Password Secrets

FreeFTP stores all your FTP login passwords at following location

[Windows Vista/7/8/10]
C:\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Roaming\SharedSettings.ccs

[Windows XP/2003]
C:\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Application Data\SharedSettings.ccs

FreeFTP stores all the FTP site details in SQLite file called “SharedSettings.ccs”.

This database file contains table named “tservers” which has following important fields for every FTP site,

IDSERVER
ServerName
Url
ServerUser
ServerPass
Protocol
Port

Here “ServerName”, “ServerUser” & “ServerPass” fields refer to FTP server, username & password respectively. Both username & passwords are stored in Base64 encoding format.

FreeFTP first encrypts username & password using Blowfish algorithm with custom generated magic key. Next this encrypted password is further encoded using Base64 and stored in above database table.
