How to Recover Download Site Passwords from Free Download Manager (FDM)

Free Download Manager Password Secrets
Latest version of FDM saves all download site passwords in “fdm.sqlite” file at following location,
[Windows Vista/7/8/10] C:\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Local\Free Download Manager\fdm.sqlite [Windows XP/2003] C:\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Free Download Manager\fdm.sqlite
This “fdm.sqlite” file is stored in SQLite database format. It contains database tables called “auth_credentials” & “auth_credentials_downloads” where each download site logins are stored.
Here are some of the interesting fields stored in these tables,
host - download site link username - login for download site password - password in encoded format
FDM encodes the above password using Base64 algorithm.
Old version of FDM stores download site details in a file called “sites.sav” at following location
[Windows Vista/7/8/10] C:\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Roaming\Free Download Manager\sites.sav [Windows XP/2003] C:\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Application Data\Free Download Manager\sites.sav
FDM stores series of records in this “sites.sav” file using its own proprietary format. Each such record contains site link, username & password in Unicode format.
