Old Trillian messenger (v5.x) used to store all login passwords in “accounts.ini” file. Here are the important entries stored in this file,

Here Account and Password field refers to username and encrypted password. It encrypts the password using proprietary encoding algorithm and then stores it in Base64 format as shown above.

Latest version of Trillian messenger uses the same method for password encryption. However it adds extra layer of security by encrypting the whole accounts file using Windows DPAPI function (CryptProtectData) and storing final data in “accounts.dat” file.
