How to Recover Login Password of Digsby Messenger

Digsby IM Password Secrets

Digsby IM saves your login password in file called “logininfo.yaml” at following location

[Windows Vista/7/8/10]
C:\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Local\Digsby\logininfo.yaml

[Windows XP/2003] 
C:\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Digsby\Logininfo.yaml

Here are the important password related entries from this “logininfo.yaml” file

Here username and password refers to Digsby login and encoded password respectively.

Digsby IM encrypts the login password using proprietary algorithm and SHA1 hash of Windows product id, install date and Digsby username. This encrypted password is then encoded using Base64 and stored in file as mentioned above.

How to Decrypt Digsby Password

Here are the technical steps involved in decrypting Digsby password,

1. Find the username & encrypted password from “logininfo.yaml” file
2. Compute SHA1 hash of Windows product id, install date and Digsby username.
3. Decode the above password using Base64 to get the final encrypted password
4. Finally decrypt the Digsby password using the above SHA1 hash.
